Reviewer Guidelines

Authors submitting to Future - Educational Innovation and Soft Computing (EISC) are expected to adhere to the highest standards of scholarly rigor, clarity, and academic impact. The peer review process is critical for maintaining the journal's quality, ensuring that only high-impact, innovative research is published. As a reviewer, you are pivotal in evaluating the contribution of manuscripts to the fields of educational innovation, soft computing, and their applications in educational systems.

1. Review Structure

A standard review of a manuscript typically includes the following components:

  • Summary: A concise overview of the manuscript’s key achievements, emphasizing its novelty and contribution to educational innovation and soft computing.
  • Evaluation: A balanced assessment addressing the following four key criteria: originality, educational relevance, technical soundness, and quality of presentation.
  • Recommendation: A clear recommendation based on your evaluation (Accept, Minor Revision Required, Major Revision Required, Reject).
  • Detailed Comments: Constructive feedback aimed at improving the manuscript, highlighting strengths, and identifying areas for improvement. Confidential remarks to the Editorial Board may also be included if necessary.

All reviews will be submitted anonymously to the authors, ensuring transparency and fairness.

2. Criteria for Acceptable Papers

Manuscripts submitted to Future - EISC must align with the journal’s thematic focus on educational innovation and the application of soft computing techniques. The following criteria are essential for acceptance:

  • Originality: The manuscript must introduce novel approaches, methods, or insights in educational innovation or the use of soft computing techniques in education.
  • Educational Relevance: Research should contribute to advancing educational practices, systems, or policies, through innovative solutions or insights enabled by soft computing methods.
  • Technical Soundness: The methodology, algorithms, and models presented must be scientifically rigorous, demonstrably reliable, and appropriate for the educational context.
  • Quality of Presentation: The manuscript should be well-organized, clearly written, and adhere to academic standards in terms of language, structure, and citation practices.

Manuscripts that fall short in any of these areas may require major revisions or be rejected.

3. Expectations for Paper Content

An acceptable manuscript should include the following key elements:

  • Clear Motivation and Objectives: The manuscript should clearly state the research problem and its significance to educational innovation and soft computing.
  • Demonstration of Novelty: Authors must highlight the unique contributions of their work and contrast it with existing research, showing how their approach advances the field.
  • Evidence of Effectiveness: The manuscript should include empirical evidence, such as experimental results, case studies, or theoretical proofs, demonstrating the practical applicability of the proposed approach.
  • Real-World Applicability: The findings should have clear, practical implications for educational systems, practices, or policies.
  • Scientific Integrity: All claims must be substantiated through rigorous reasoning and reliable data or references.

4. Types of Submissions

  • Theoretical or Methodological Papers: These papers should present new methodologies, models, or frameworks for applying soft computing techniques to educational innovation. Authors should provide detailed explanations of how their contributions can impact educational systems and practices.
  • Experimental Papers: Authors must describe the experimental design, methodology, and results, clearly interpreting the findings and explaining their relevance to educational innovation and soft computing.
  • Applications and Case Studies: Papers should present real-world examples of soft computing applications in education, focusing on challenges, solutions, and outcomes.
  • Review Articles: Review papers should synthesize existing research on key topics related to educational innovation and soft computing, providing an overview of current trends, challenges, and future directions.

5. Comparative Analysis with Related Work

Every manuscript should position itself within the context of existing research. Authors should demonstrate how their work advances or challenges the current state of knowledge, and compare their findings or methodologies with relevant prior studies in the field of educational innovation and soft computing.

6. Quality and Precision

  • Conciseness: Authors should avoid unnecessary jargon and overly complex formulations. The language should be clear, concise, and precise, and definitions should be consistent throughout the manuscript.
  • Technical Precision: Concepts, methods, and models should be well-defined, with a clear, unambiguous presentation of key ideas. Authors should avoid confusion caused by overlapping or inconsistent terminology.

7. Revisions and Review Process

  • Minor Revisions: These papers will typically be reviewed by the associate editor. Authors should provide a cover letter detailing how they have addressed the reviewers’ comments and made the necessary changes.
  • Major Revisions: Manuscripts requiring significant revisions will be reviewed again by the original reviewers to ensure that the changes have adequately addressed all concerns. Authors must provide a detailed response to each reviewer comment in their cover letter.

8. Confidentiality

All manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential. Reviewers are not permitted to share or reference manuscripts without prior permission. Reviewers’ identities are kept confidential, and all communication with authors should be done through the editorial system.

9. Submission Instructions

Please ensure that your review adheres to the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines. Reviews should be submitted electronically via the journal’s submission portal. If you encounter any issues during the review process, please contact the editorial team at eisc@fupress.org.
